Job Summary

We are seeking compassionate and motivated nursing students to join our Long-Term Care team in a Personal Support Worker (PSW) role. This position is ideal for nursing students looking to gain hands-on clinical experience while supporting residents in a safe, respectful, and person-centred environment.

Under the direction of the Registered Nursing staff, the PSW will assist residents with activities of daily living and contribute to their comfort, dignity, and overall well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal care (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming)

  • Support mobility, transfers, and positioning using proper techniques

  • Assist with feeding and hydration as required

  • Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff

  • Promote resident safety, comfort, and dignity at all times

  • Follow care plans, infection control practices, and LTC policies

  • Support a respectful and team-based care environment

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a recognized Nursing Program (RPN or RN) and completed Year 1

  • PSW certificate is an asset but not required

  • Knowledge of resident-centred care and LTC environments preferred

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills

  • Physically able to meet job demands of a PSW role

Requirements (Ontario LTC Standards)

  • Proof of enrollment in a nursing program

  • Current immunizations and TB testing

  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check

  • CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain)

  • Ability to work flexible shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends)
